July 28, 2025 Updated

It has become even more important to connect, speak up, and make each person's wishes come true.

Welcome

The United Nations Plan of Action for the International Year of Disabled Persons, adopted by the United Nations prior to the International Year of Disabled Persons, includes the statements that “a large number of persons with disabilities are victims of war and other forms of violence” and “when a society shuts out some of its members, it is a weak and fragile society.”

This was 46 years ago. This year marks 80 years since the end of the war and 80 years since the atomic bombing. On the earth, there are still people fleeing the ravages of war. People who are considered minorities also live with suffocation. Last year, the Japan Council of A- and H-bomb Sufferers Organizations was awarded the Nobel Prize, and the Supreme Court ruled that the government is responsible for the victims who underwent forced sterilization under the former Eugenic Protection Law.
The activities of the Hidankyo started from a strong determination not to allow the use of atomic and hydrogen bombs and never to start a war again, based on the wish for peace. People whose natural desire to have children was cut off by the laws that were established soon after the war spoke out, connected, stood up, and went to court to defend their rights and dignity as human beings.

They have been going through a long, hard, and arduous road, and their earnest appeals have borne fruit.
The event taught me the importance of not giving up hope, speaking out, and taking action.

This year's theme is
“Let Peace, Dreams and Hopes Come True Together - A Warm Society Where Everyone is Cared for”
This theme expresses our overflowing thoughts and feelings in words. Under this theme, we are preparing to hold the event.
